Go Forth

We marched for the future of women
refusing to lift our breasts,
to wear enhancing make-up,
by using our maiden names.

We offer a vacant seat,
and open the door for ourselves,
and whoever else needs help.

We wander around bra-less,
cuss like a sailor, tell dirty jokes,
talk like a man,
act out sexually,
and take full advantage of our youth.

Now in these last decades,
We see that we have made some progress:
Our daughters are free to choose,
Our sons may dally with whom they please,
and their mates will be equal partners
in the workforce, in bed, and with regard
to the reproduction of life.

We were at the forefront – marching,
just as our grandmothers before us
bobbed their hair, took off their corsets,
and demanded The Vote…

We demand even more:
We demand equal pay for equal work,
equal property rights,
equal education, and equal opportunity.
We demand control over our bodies
and control over  our own destiny.

We demand an equal place in the hierarchy.
We demand it for the whole world of women!

We withstood the name calling.
We withstood the social pressure.
We stood up for you, young daughters!

Be strong!
Go forth and conquer the world
for us, for your future daughters…
For Her.  Go Forth.
