I Surrender

Delving further into the cave…
darker and darker,
so dark, so quiet…
with only the faint trickle of water
coming from someplace
within the cracks and crags.

The soft moan of the Earth
as it moves and revolves
through space.
It is alive and so it changes.

Violent eruptions,
storms of heat and wind,
churning sea swells, crashing rain,
delicate breezes, and sunny glorious days.

Living with Nature
protected from theĀ hums, squeaks, and buzzes
in the modern world.
She softens the hurt
in my neck and shoulders.

I seek comfort
in a whiff of her presence…
a dozen hummingbirds, three mating Towhees,
butterflies kissing Sweet William,
the simple beauty of a bouquet of wild flowers.
I surrender to you, Oh Mother…
at this time of lightness, greening, and birth.
