Two Live Crew had just come out with a new album. My eleven year old son was begging me for it. So, being the spoiler that I am, I bought it for him. The case proclaimed “Parental Advisory.” Now I am usually not easily offended… OK, I’m never offended. But the first time I heard this album, I was actually a little shocked….
Then I got over it and learned all the lyrics by heart,
“Me so horny… Me love you long time…”
“The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire…”
“Fuck, fuck, fuck, the Deltas…”
That album became the anthem of our Houseboat Trip. Whoever was at the wheel got to choose the music. Sonny and his friend wanted to do most of the driving… with our close supervision, of course. So, we had a lot of 2 Live Crew.
All six of us were singing along in unison to the record just like a Broadway musical! But what was really funny was the two old geezers – me and the old man, waving to other passing boats, smiling, and singing, “We don’t need no water. Let the mother fucker burn!”
