Tess met Rob at the Labor Day party. They were both with someone else that day, but they managed to make eye contact and exchange numbers. Rob always had a string of young beauties dangling around, and Tess was hooking up with several partners as well.
One of her suitors had a ten day trip to the Mexican Riviera planned and paid for. She was leaving in a week, but she couldn’t get Rob off her mind. At work she fantasized about him; his youthful lean body, his steely blue eyes, his charming smile and banter… the rumor that he could go all night.
Eager to meet up with him, she called. They were both players and they both knew it. This wasn’t a date. This was sex, and they were both very good at it. They stayed in her bed for hours in every position drinking wine, screwing, and laughing all night.
The next day she called Kristie and sighed heavily, “Ahhh….”
“That good, huh?”
“Ahhh…” Tess sighed again. Kristie could hear her satisfied smile through the phone.
Two days later Rob called with the news that he was positive for both syphilis and gonorrhea! Those were the main venereal diseases you had to worry about back in the day. AIDS hadn’t been announced yet.
Tess called Kristie with his news, “You know this is going to ruin my whole vacation?! Now I have to take antibiotics! I can’t drink alcohol! I have to stay out of the sun, AND refrain from sexual contact!! This really sucks! I’ve been planning on this trip for months!”
She was really pissed. Plus she had to call all her other partners and tell them about it. She couldn’t imagine how many partners Rob had to call… maybe thirty? He was a very busy boy.
The whole situation made Kristie glad that she had hooked up with Jack in a steady relationship. Hell, Rob was so desirable, that she probably would have taken a turn at him too. Now he would be crossed off her list for sure. Plus, the relationship she was developing with Jack wasn’t worth the risk of losing for a one night stand no matter how cute the guy was. Monogamy had its benefits.
She figured this was a Players’s Lesson: Question your partner. Always use a condom.
