The Road Worth Taking

She was upset.  She was frantic. She had just received the expected layoff notice.  She was about to have a panic attack. Now what was she going to do?   She got into her car and barreled down the highway a little too fast.

If she turned right she’d end up at the mouth of The River in a small quiet coastal town good for taking deep breaths.  “Good for calming the spirit.  Good for waving to Japan,”  she thought with a smile.

If she turned left, she’d end up in town at the ‘Appy Room where she could pause for a drink and some dirty talk with the guys – also good for raising the spirits.

“What have you been doin’ lately, Wild Jane?”  Someone would ask not really wanting to know the truth.  All of them went there hoping to escape the truth, seeking a little friendship….

“Well, I’ve been suckin’ my ole man’s dick and hangin’ around in my evening gown.  How about you?”

“Still breaking urinal cakes with that monster I keep in my pants!”

“Ha, ha, ha, ha….”  They would all laugh and begin the process of exchanging one liners and buying each other rounds until it was past time for dinner.

Either way, she would feel better.  She would decide when she reached the highway.
